Vera Ann Farmiga was born in Clifton, New Jersey, United States, on August 6, 1973, is an American actress.

Young Vera Farmiga first started performing as a folk dancer and pianist with a Ukrainian touring company "Syzokryli", during her teen years.

She made her big screen debut in drama thriller film Return to Paradise (1998) in role as Kerrie.

She got her television debut in Fox fantasy adventure series Roar (1997) in role as Catlin.

Her breakthrough performance came as Irene Morrison in drama movie Down to the Bone (2004).

She landed her Broadway debut in a play "Taking Sides" (1996) in role as Emmi Straube (understudy), at Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

She made her directorial debut with drama film Higher Ground (2011) also she starred in lead role as Corinne Walker.
