Young Shohreh Aghdashloo first started performing in Theater Workshops in Iran, at the age of 19.

She made her big screen debut in Iranian drama film The Chess Game of the Wind (Shatranj-e baad) (1976).

She got her television debut in mystery legal drama series Matlock (1990) in episode "Nowhere to Turn", in role as Saleslady.

Shohreh's breakthrough performance came as Nadereh 'Nadi' Behrani in psychological drama film House of Sand and Fog (2003).

She made her American movie debut in drama Guests of Hotel Astoria (1989) in role as Mrs. Pori Karemnia.
