Young Emmy Rossum first began her career on stage at the age of seven, at the New York Metropolitan Opera.

She got her television debut in drama film Grace & Glorie (1996) in role as Luanne.

She made her big screen debut in drama film Songcatcher (2000) in role as Deladis Slocumb, at the age of 13, for which she was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award.

Her breakthrough performance came as Laura Chapman in science fiction disaster movie The Day After Tomorrow (2004).
