Robert John Downey Jr. was born in Manhattan, New York, United States, on April 4, 1965, is an American actor.

Young Robert Downey Jr. first started acting career in his father's movies.

He made his big screen debut at the age of five in comedy film Pound (1970) in role as Puppy, directed by his father, Robert Downey Sr..

He landed his television debut in Saturday Night Live (1985–1986) in various characters.

He got his first break with a roles as Jimmy Parker in drama film Tuff Turf (1985) with James Spader and as Ian in comic science fiction movie Weird Science (1985) with Kelly Le Brock.

Robert's breakthrough performances came as Julian Wells in drama film Less Than Zero (1987).

He made his stage debut in a play "Alms for the Middle Class" (1982), at the Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, New York, at the age of 17.
