Academy Award for her portrayal of serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the movie
Monster and another Academy Award nomination for her performance in North
Country. Was born in Benoni, in the then Transvaal Province of South Africa.
Became a fashion model at age 14. Gained 30 pounds to play Aileen Wuornos
in Monster (2003). In 2004, injured her neck while filming Eon Flux (2005).
Received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (September 29, 2005).
Esquire magazine's Beautiful Woman Alive in 2007. Loves soccer. Lives in
