Young Omar Sharif began his professional acting career in Egyptian films in the 1950s.
He made his big screen debut in adventure film Shaytan al-Sahra (1954) in role as Essam.
He got his television debut in crime drama film The Poppy Is Also a Flower (1966) in role as Dr. Rad.
Omar's breakthrough performance came as Sherif Ali ibn el Kharish in epic historical drama film Lawrence of Arabia (1962).
